Brrrr, it’s cold out there...

007       Since it’s been soooo hot lately I thought I’d post these pictures I took on a COLD, ICY morning.   Just a small reminder to be grateful for the seasons we have and the beauty in all of it.

030Airport closed: Ice and snow on runway

011 The glow from the sun trying to come up was beautiful.

012  This was my favorite of all the pictures I took.  I had to take my gloves off because I wasn’t able to change the settings on my camera with them on.  It was COLD!!!  This was the coldest day we had in Kentucky this last winter and I know it was close to “0”.  I was only out walking around for about 15 minutes and there was just no way anyone could stay out there.  I was very grateful that day for a warm home and cozy blankets for my family to cuddle in.

029I do believe this plane was grounded!!

waterdrop challenge

I'm on this wonderful photography forum with a lot of wonderful photographers.  This was a challenge they were doing and I decided to give it a try.

I had never tried anything like this before but, I must say it was a lot of fun. I am thrilled with the results.  Right now I'm thinking of printing some of these up for my bathroom.  Three of the black and white above the bathtub would probably look really good.
This one is my Favorite!!
The pink and green are pretty cool too.  I took these shots from my kitchen sink.  Korah held the awesome scrapbook paper behind the dripping faucet and I started shooting away.  This was the first challenge I have attempted but, I must say I really learned a lot.  I may just have to try another! :)

Flash-back Friday

August 2006
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Yellowstone National Park
This was Tanner's very first vacation.  We went with my whole family except for Cliff.  He was still in Florida.  I'm not quite sure what Kiffen was thinking with these glasses, it was a phase he went through I guess.

Of course we had to see Old Faithful.
We went river rafting down the Snake River.  Call me over-protective, but I didn't take Tanner rafting on this trip.  I just thought he was a little too young :).
And we're off!!!  We had a great time!  The Rapids were wild, the water refreshing(cold), and the best part was that we went home with the same amount of family that we came with.  One of our family traditions that we do is make up songs.  I have been doing this with all my nieces and nephews and now with my kids.  We were so excited to go on this vacation that I worked with Bridger, Savannah, and Kaleb for weeks ahead of time on our vacation song.  Without further adieu...

to the tune of "it's a small world"

There are people in the car, who's ready to go.
Mom and dad hurry up, we want to go.
Jackson Hole is our destination today.
Hurry up!  Let's get on our way.
Chorus:
     Jackson Hole, HERE WE COME!
     Yellowstone, HERE WE COME!
     We'll camp outside the bears
will hide, when they hear us
     sing this song.

The snake river is where we're gonna get wet.
On our great big exciting rafting trip.
Our Grandma will squeel when we all pull a
prank, and say "Look! Kaleb's got a snake!"
(Kaleb loved that part!)

I'm still waiting on my Grammy;).  There is one more verse, but I can't remember how it goes exactly.  I'll have to ask the kids and then I'll post it.  All in all this was one of my favorite vacations.
We jumped into rapids in a thermally warmed river and let the current just carry us down. I lost my glasses jumping in and couldn't help Kiffen drive home. Yeah, I'm that blind. We went and saw the wonderful "bar J wranglers". A cowboy singing group in Jackson Hole that perform while you eat out under the stars just like the cowboys used to. They do cowboy poetry, comedy, singing and a little dancing. Oh yeah, we also saw a few animals.
When I took this picture, Kaleb had no idea what was behind him.  As a side note, did he not have the cutest curls?

Bridger and Savannah knew he was back there, which is why they aren't right up next to the fence.  Smart kids.
See ya on our next vacation...

subway art

I love the look of subway art.  Lately, I have been seeing it everywhere.  I've been wanting to do something like this for my home, but I just didn't know exactly what.  This afternoon while I was relaxing, enjoying the sun out on my balcony, overlooking the San Diego Bay in 75 degree weather (maybe I should of left that part out, sorry Kentucky. ). I came across this. Yep, pretty awesome!  I'm not sure what the final product will be, but it will be similar to this.  I love the names, and the colors.  I love that I can have personalized art.  These are the names of the Eliason side of my family.  Starting with my grandparents, Frank and Gertrude, all the way down to their great-grand kids.  I'm going to print it BIG.  Again, not sure how big or what exactly, but this will soon be displayed in my humble abode. :)

Names and sisters

Hi! Meet Sydnee and Savannah. Two Beautiful girls named after two beautiful cities.  So I've been told.  I've been to a lot of places, but neither of those.  Actually, Savannah is named after a character in a book series called "The work and the glory".  Wonderful series.  One of my favorites.  Anyways, my sister Jenny and I fell in love with the name.  Jenny was pregnant at the time, but did not know what she was having just yet.  Well she decided that if she had a girl she was going to name her Savannah.  Not knowing that I had already decided that when I had a little girl I was going to name my little girl Savannah.  Needless to say we both couldn't have the name.  I tried to pull rank and say that I was older, didn't work.  I tried to say that I read the book first, didn't work.  I prayed that she would have a boy, nope, that didn't work either.  Finally, our Dad stepped in and settled it for us.  See while we were fighting over the name, we were also fighting over a doll house that our grandfather had built for us when we were kids.  So, whoever had a girl first could have the name.  Whoever didn't get the name got to keep the doll house.

Hi!  Meet Korah Grace.  She has an awesome doll house that was made by her great-grandfather.

Flash-back Friday

This is my baby sister Annie. Also the man she decided to spend the rest of eternity with, (lucky fellow).  These two.  I tell ya, they are one cute couple.  He adores her. She adores him.  Isn't that how it's supposed to be?  This picture was taken in may of 2009.  She was barely pregnant with their first baby.  Baby Will as he is affectionately known.  My favorite thing about this picture is how happy she is starting this new journey,  adventure if you want to call it so.  A wise person told me recently  (okay it was an ad in a magazine) that Happiness is not a station, it's a way of Travelling.  I really love that quote.  I do believe I'm going to make it  my theme for the year.  Yep, another one of those resolutions.  Anyways,  Annie and Wade, happy travels and I can't wait to take another picture just like this in 50 years!
